Listen, I love winter, but I CAN’T WAIT FOR WARMER WEATHER!!! I’m so pumped to get back into the van, give it a good cleaning and then dirty it all over again with continuing her renovations!

Here’s what’s on the docket:

📝 Plumbing: Install and connect the water heater, shower, and water tank.

📝 Electricity: Install solar panels and adjust electrical system as needed. Also install an additional outlet or two. Help!

📝 Paint and decorate and furnish (cushions!) the new cozy nook above the fridge. Also retrieve the items I barricaded into the wall by accident. 😁

📝 Build drawers under the nook beside the fridge.

📝 Recreate the storage system beside the nook. Sell the tv.

📝 Install tiny gas tank under the sink. Build a shelving system under there too for all kitchen and cleaning supplies.

📝 Build a shoe storage system behind the driver and passenger chairs.

📝 Replace all wooden door coverings. Paint? Add storage options there too?

📝 Install security cameras.

📝 Install swivel seat?

📝 Redesign drawers above the bed to maximize space?

📝 Order new cushions for the back.

📝 Replace the flooring under the kitchen table.

📝 Buy or make a toilet?

📝 Everything else that I’m missing on this list! 🤪

Where would you start? I’m thinking plumbing but I have no idea!!!

*Cool Café in Fergus, Ontario*

You know I love converted historic places, and @vaultcafebar is on that list. Formerly the Imperial Bank, the café is not only a delicious spot for any meal of the day, but they’ve retained the original bank vault for you to venture into. You won’t find any cloth money bags in there these days, but you will get to shop the local and eco-friendly products through the thick metal door. They’ve also got comedy and musical entertainment in the evenings, which make it a great date spot or place to go with friends and family.

Spring is officially here and you know what that means…time to get outside and explore all of the fantastic outdoor art in Waterloo Region!

Look up, down, left, and right, because it is EVERYWHERE! From sidewalks and busy intersections, to alleys, doorways, picnic tables, and gigantic murals, Waterloo Region is absolutely bursting with colour.

Many of the talented artists featured are local - how lucky are we to enjoy the beauty and intrigue they create for us?

There are many different ways to enjoy outdoor public art in Waterloo Region:

1. Grab your sneakers and sunnies and go for a walk around a different neighbourhood. Many local community centres feature art on their exterior walls.
2. Head to Victoria Park, Waterloo Park, or any other park. There you’ll find all sorts of art, not to mention the fabulous people-watching.
3. Duck into an alleyway - Goudies in Downtown Kitchener, Hughes Lane in uptown Waterloo, or in and around Downtown Galt.
4. Visit the blog over on Travel with TMc for a self-guided tour.

It was September of 2012 and I had just moved to I

It was September of 2012 and I had just moved to Ireland. I had zero expectations for the country I swore as a 14-year old I’d never return to, a broken heart, and a desire to say yes to whatever life had in store.

11 days after moving across the Atlantic Ocean, I rode with strangers who had invited me to surf in Bundoran. Wait…surfing?!! In Ireland?! Ha! Sure, why not.

I had never surfed.
I didn’t know these people.
I had literally just moved to a new country, without a job or home or plan.

It sounded like the perfect crazy adventure to begin this next chapter.

And it was.

The strangers became friends.
I learned how to surf and had a blast.
Memories were created.

On nights like this week’s @irl_festivalkw film screening of Sean Duggan’s @keepitasecretfilm and @easkeysurf ‘s film Into the Sea with Iranian athlete trailblazers Mona Seraji and @shahlasurf , I grin and my joyful heart is content reminiscing about those places, experiences, and people I criss-crossed life paths with over a decade ago. I quietly nod to myself an acknowledgment of where life has brought me since then, and realize the coincidental timing of the previous night’s Persian Chaharshanbe Suri (fire jumping) to signify the beginning celebrations of Nowruz and spring.

I appreciate these little moments and the lessons they have taught me. I am grateful for them.

@moonbean_music !!! Man, do they know how to put together a memorable night! From all of the talented musicians they partner with, to finding unique gig locations, to creating the perfect atmosphere for people to thoroughly enjoy themselves. BRAVO! 👏🎶🌟

The most recent venue was @marlowegeneral , a new barbershop in @dtkitchener . Funnily enough I used to get my hair cut there when it was Voila’s hair school!
